The Russian government is considering setting up
a company to manage three Moscow-based airports, Domodedovo,
Sheremetyevo, and Vnukovo, business daily Vedomosti reported
Tuesday, quoting Sheremetyevo’s General Director Mikhail
Vasilenko.
“Should the decision be made, we are ready to
take part,” Vnukovo’s co-owner Vitaly Vantsev told the
newspaper.
A government official said that specific
suggestions are to be formulated by July.
Andrei Rozhkov, an analyst at
investment company Metropol, said the airports could not attract
required amounts for the construction of runways themselves.
Merging the whole Moscow airport network, financed by investors and
airports, is the best option, he said.
The government lacks 14 billion rubles for the
construction of a third runway at Sheremetyevo and 33 billion
rubles for the same purposes at Domodedovo.
